Meant to click on I love it. Oh well.

Good right from the start. Ryan was a great character and went well with the Doctor, would of made a good companion in future stories. Really loved Malcolm and really hope that he can return in UNIT stories. Never going to be able to listen to his Malcolm stand up routines again without thinking of this character.
good story line and not to over the top unlike the last special. And the trailer for the next special looks interesting.

Some random thoughts:
"Humans on buses, always blaming me." I lol'd pretty hard.
Anyone else noticed this: deserts and the lonely instrument. One or two people walk off into the distance, and the other instruments quiet, but for a single, lonely sounding instrument. It's always quite haunting.
For all the crap I give RTD, he and I do seem to share a love for UNIT. And mad scientists.
Aside from the obvious foreshadowing at the end, anyone catch the probable foreshadowing: "Wait, you mean 'the Doctor' Doctor?" "I know. We all want to meet him one day, but...we all know what that day will bring." Think this is just because any time the Doctor shows up, fecal matter strikes oscillating cooling devices? Or has some time travel tom foolery given UNIT advanced knowledge of an encounter that will end badly?
This is a tiny, tiny, tiny thing that impressed me: all the shots of the insect hand pointing at the screen were different. Usually, something tiny like that, they'd just recycle it, since the image on the screen could just as easily be added post-production.
Also, always refreshing to see insect aliens who aren't evil, war like, or just generally assholes. Even not being able to understand them, they came across as being very sympathetic.
Next special. Waters of Mars.
Spoiler:
And I effing love Ice Warriors.

All in all, loved this episode. Not perfect, but certainly a great one.

There's something you'd better understand about me, and it's important; one day, your life may depend on it. I am definitely a madman with a box.
It's not supposed to make that noise. You leave the breaks on.
I can run away from anything I like. Time is not the boss of me.
