The History of U.N.I.T.
1986
1986 was yet another quiet year for UNIT. The only UNIT or Doctor Agent related incident happened at the end of the year in, of all places, Antarctica.
The Antarctic STS Incident
In December 1986, there was an apparently serious incident at the Snowcap Tracking Station in Antarctica. The tracking station claimed to have found evidence of a new, rogue, planet in our Solar System. For unknown reasons, this was only reported in some sections of the press. The claim was found to be completely false some time after. However, during the time it was believed to be true, some TV footage was released showing the Old Doctor involved in some kind of battle with giant robots outside Snowcap. There may be some relationship between this incident and the belief amongst some Antarctic research teams in a Torus Antarctica similar to the Bermuda Triangle not far from Snowcap.
