Description
Rose Tyler is of average height and has blonde hair. She is particularly flirtatious, and has a love of chips. She was strongly attracted to both the Doctors she travelled with, despite also still being in love with Mickey.
Rose would rather die than have plastic surgery[2]. Before travelling with the Doctor she never phoned her mum in the middle of the day.[3]
Abilities
Rose has some ability at Gymnastics, having won the bronze when she was in the under-sevens gymnastics team.[4] Rose also has considerable ability at flirting.[5] She knows how to play poker.[6]
History
Note: Like many recurring characters, we do not know the precise order in which Rose experienced all her adventures. Placement of some stories in the timeline and the history section is speculative.
Early Life
Rose was born on the 27th of April 1987[16] Rose's father Pete Tyler died in a road accident on the 7th of November 1987[17], and so Rose was brought up by her mother Jackie Tyler. They lived at Flat 48, Bucknall House, on the Powell Estate in London. Their postcode was SE15 7GO[18]
When she was a child, Rose attended Jericho Street Junior School and was part of its under sevens gymnastics team, where she won the bronze.[19] Rose once watched a Newsround Extra feature about how the sun would eventually expand and destroy the Earth, although this would take centuries.[20]
Rose's childhood holidays consisted of a week at Tenby, on the South Wales coast.[21]
At the age of 13, Rose and her best friend Shareen Costello went on a school trip to France. They were supposed to be visiting the Louvre, but Rose and Shareen sneaked away and went to Parc Asterix instead. Their teacher, Mrs Kissock, took the two truants back home early.[22] Rose hated every minute of school. Rose and Shareen used to go down the shops to look at boys.[23] It was at this age that Rose had a boyfriend from the year above her who was a genius at starting food fights.[24]
When she was 14, Rose started going out with Mickey Smith who, at the time, lived in the same block of flats.[25]
Aged 15, Rose persuaded the school choir at Jericho Street Comprehensive to go on strike. She was suspended from school for three days as a result.[26]
When she was 16, Rose sat GCSEs. She got one A, two Bs, four Cs, and a D in science. She was thinking of sitting A-Levels in English French and Art. However, Rose abandoned these plans when she fell in love with Jimmy Stone in September. She abandoned her studies and moved into Jimmy's bedsit. Five months later, the relationship broke up, and Rose went back to her mum, £800 in debt.[27]
Following these events, Rose got back together with Mickey. She also started working in the Christmas Shop on Clifton's Parade. After six months there, Jackie called in a favour from Geoff Moon, one of her ex-boyfriends, and got Rose a job in the London department store Henrik's. Rose started in the stock room, before being moved up to the shop floor.[28]

- ↑ According to Meet Rose. This date would seem to contradict statements in Aliens of London that Rose turned 19 before the 25th of March 2005. However, the baby Rose we see in Father's Day is clearly far too young for the Aliens of London date to be plausible.
