Other Guides to this Story

Doctor

The Second Doctor

The second Doctor is short with a beatles moptop. He tends to act the part of a fool and give events a push in the right direction rather than directly taking control.

Companion(s)

Jamie McCrimmon

Jamie McCrimmon is a scots piper who met the Doctor after the battle of Culluden in The Highlanders.. He is proud of his Scottishness and wears a kilt and carries a dirk (knife).

Victoria Waterfield

Victoria Waterfield is an orphan from 1866. In The Evil of the Daleks her father and his friend Theodore Maxtible established a line between Victorian London and the Daleks' home planet of Skaro. The Daleks held Victoria hostage in order to control them. The Doctor and Jamie defeated the Daleks, but her father died. Victoria then chose to travel with the Doctor and Jamie.

Recurring and Historical Characters

The Ainley Master

Koschei is one of the Doctor's people. The picture of him on the front cover looks incredibly like the Master, who became a major enemy and rival to the Doctor in the Doctor's third incarnation.

Recurring species from the TV series seen in this story include Draconians (Frontier in Space), Terileptils (The Visitation), and Alpha Centurai (The Curse of Peladon, The Monster of Peladon). We also see a Xarax from the Missing Adventure Dancing the Code

The new species, the Veltrochni, are mentioned as ancient enemies of the Tzun in the New Adventures novel First Frontier
