From WhoniverseWiki
Apologies for the downtime on the Wiki. We've had some bad database problems, and lost a fair chunk of content.
The Whoniverse Wiki is designed to become the ultimate encyclopedia to the fictional world of Doctor Who (often called the whoniverse). This wiki is not concerned with the factual side of Doctor Who, except to the extent that it impinges on the fiction.
As the wiki is currently in its infancy, we apologise for the lack of a fancy front page. That will come in time. For now, we'll make do with an explanation of what we're aiming for and how you can help.

Scope and Canon
Main article: Canon
The wiki aims to be as comprehensive as possible. Therefore, we aim to include every officially licensed story (and a few marginal cases), and we will treat all of them as if they "really happened". As a brief guide, here's a list of some of the stories we are considering to be "canonical" for the purposes of the wiki are as follows:
- The Classic TV Series (1963-1989)
- The 1996 TV Movie
- The New TV Series (2005 onwards)
- Virgin Books' New Adventures and Missing Adventures
- BBC Books' Eighth Doctor Adventures and Past Doctor Adventures
- Big Finish's Doctor Who audios
- Doctor Who Magazine's comic strips
- At least some of the pre-DWM comic strips (it has been established that some of these didn't really happen)
- The four webcast animations from the BBC website
- Torchwood
- The Bernice Summerfield books and audios (which are a spin-off from the books)
Some stories, although officially licensed, are clearly stated to take place outside of normal continuity. These stories are usually referred to by fans as "unbound". We aim to cover these stories as well, however, all articles about them should be flagged up as unbound. Unbound stories include:
- The Peter Cushing Dalek Movies
- Big Finish's Doctor Who Unbound audios
- A number of short stories which tie into either of these
Sources
Ideally, all the information on this wiki should be taken directly from the stories themselves. However, sometimes that's not always possible. When contributing, please cite your sources. This can be done by putting the source of your information between ref tags <ref>like these ones</ref>. You then only need a {{reflist}} at the bottom of the page so we can see the footnotes. Please be as specific as possible as to where you found the information.
Neutral Point of View
Although our articles should be written in an in-universe style, we should try to maintain a neutral point of view. and avoid opinions that are not explicitly backed up within the whoniverse.
Style and Spelling
Please try to use gramatically correct English and correct spelling. As Doctor Who is a British TV program, please try to use British English spelling unless quoting other spellings used within a story.
