The Silurian Gift

Roots: There are references to Beezer, Whizzer and Chips, Jammie Dodgers, and Rich Tea biscuits.

Continuity: The Silurian base beneath Antarctica is a joint scientific/military base. The Silurians were given the task of stockpiling Fire Ice, a source of clean instant energy that they discovered prior to going into hibernation. Oclar sabotages the Fire Ice so that it release vast quantities of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. A commando squad of Sea Devils and several Myrkas were also frozen in the base. Sea Devils have greater resistance to cold than the Silurians and wear thermal armour that allows them to swim in Antarctic waters. The venom of juvenile Silurians is not deadly as their venom sacs are not fully matured.

The Doctor poses as a journalist. He pulls some strings with UNIT to get access to the press launch in Antarctica. His pockets contain a stick of rock from Southend-on-Sea.

Location: Antarctica, [c2013].

Unrecorded Adventures: The Doctor once went out on the town with Oscar Wilde.

The Bottom Line:Prehistoric lizard men with smartphones. It’s all a bit much to take in.” Short and simple, uniting the classic and new series via the fannish inclusion of Sea Devils and Myrkas. Still, Tucker captures the Eleventh Doctor well and it's entertaining enough fare.
